Bubbo

A virtual pet for your sourdough starter.

Feed it and it visibly rises and domes; neglect it and it slumps and spreads, exactly as a real culture does. The sky follows the real time of day and the weather follows the starter’s mood — all derived from state and the clock, with no weather API and no location permission. Guided bakes start their own timers. Nothing leaves the phone.

02How we build

Four rules,no manifesto

  • 01

    Nothing phones home

    No accounts, no telemetry, no ad identifiers, no third-party SDKs. Where a product needs a model, it runs on your key or on your device.

    Bubbo stores everything locally and operates no servers

  • 02

    AI only where it earns its place

    Most of what we ship has no model in it at all. Bubbo's weather, mood and life stages are derived from state and the clock — no API, no location permission.

    Zero network calls in a "smart" pet app

  • 03

    Finished, not launched

    Small scope, shipped properly: offline behaviour, notifications, edge cases, a real privacy policy. A narrow thing that works beats a broad thing that demos.

    Say the boring true thing

    Our own docs contradict popular advice where the evidence does — the float test doesn't work, day-4 silence is progress. Being right matters more than being reassuring.
